An accredited Orton-Gillingham (OG) teacher is one who has met successfully the 80-hour course and 100-hour practicum requirements of Orton-Gillingham Teacher as set by the Board of the Canadian Dyslexia Society. The teacher has demonstrated knowledge of the standards, course content, and ethical conduct as laid down in the CDS course curriculum. The teacher has demonstrated the ability to create a therapeutic learning environment and to deliver an effective remedial OG program.
Additionally, the teacher may be accredited by the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators (AOGPE), New York, U.S.A. as a Classroom Educator, Associate Member or Certified Practitioner. For further details regarding these membership levels, please see www.ortonacademy.org.
